ZYCI is seeking an expert-level CNC Machinist/Programmer with extensive experience in multitasking mill/turn and B-axis CNC machines. This is a hands-on position for a highly skilled professional capable of taking complex aerospace and defense components from print to finished part while maintaining the highest standards of quality and precision.
Our work involves challenging materials, tight tolerances, and mission-critical flight hardware for aerospace, defense, space, robotics, and advanced technology customers.
Responsibilities
- Program, set up, and operate complex mill/turn and B-axis multitasking CNC machines
- Create and optimize CNC programs using Mastercam or GibbsCAM
- Develop machining strategies for complex 3, 4, and 5-axis components
- Tune and optimize CNC processes to maximize efficiency, tool life, and part quality
- Troubleshoot machining, tooling, fixturing, and programming issues
- Work independently from engineering drawings, models, and GD&T requirements
- Select tooling, workholding, and machining methods for difficult-to-machine materials
- Perform first-piece inspections and ensure compliance with aerospace quality requirements
- Document best practices, setups, tooling, and process improvements
- Mentor less experienced machinists and help elevate overall shop capability
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of CNC machining experience in a high-precision manufacturing environment
- Expert-level experience with multitasking mill/turn and B-axis machines
- Advanced proficiency in Mastercam and/or GibbsCAM
- Strong understanding of machining dynamics, feeds, speeds, chip control, and process optimization
- Ability to machine complex parts with minimal supervision
- Extensive experience with GD&T and blueprint interpretation
- Proven ability to hold tight tolerances on critical aerospace components
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality
Preferred Experience
- Aerospace, defense, space, missile, satellite, or flight hardware manufacturing
- Okuma Multus, Mazak Integrex, Mori NTX, Nakamura-Tome, or similar platforms
- Experience machining difficult materials including:
- Inconel 718
- Titanium alloys
- Aermet 100
- Custom 465
- Ferrium M54
- 15-5 PH and 17-4 PH stainless
- Nickel-based superalloys
- AS9100 and aerospace documentation requirements
