American Traveler is seeking a CVOR Surgical Tech with two years of large OR experience and current cardiovascular surgery experience for a hospital operating room position.

Hospital-based Operating Room - Cardiovascular unit

10-hour day shifts, 4 days per week, totaling 40 hours weekly
-
Shift hours from 0630-1700
-
Floating between departments and/or local locations within 20 miles is required
-
Minimum of 2 years of current experience in a large OR setting required
-
Current cardiovascular surgery experience required
-
HS Diploma or GED required
-
Completion of a Surgical Technician training program or graduation from an accredited school required (or Certified Surgical Technician credential from NBSTSA or NCCT plus 10 years of experience)

BLS certification required through American Heart Association, American Health and Safety, or American Red Cross

Certified Surgical Technician (CST) credential through NBSTSA or Tech in Surgery certification through NCCT preferred

License required if applicable

Must be a team player, flexible, and accustomed to a fast-paced environment

Ortho, ENT, and/or vascular experience is a plus

Transplant experience is a plus

Provide assistance and support to surgeons by preparing and providing instruments and equipment during surgical procedures
-
Perform instrument counts and maintain accurate counts of sponges, needles, and instruments throughout procedures
-
Secure and prepare all supplies and instruments required for surgical intervention prior to procedures

Ensure preparation and maintenance of the sterile field in the OR
-
Prepare patient skin for surgical treatment and assist with patient positioning and re-positioning during surgery

Help monitor patients during surgery and provide supportive care during the pre-operative phase

Perform scrub functions and ensure specimens are correctly handled and routed appropriately

Maintain current knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medications used intraoperatively

Apply critical thinking skills to anticipate the needs of the patient and surgeon

Demonstrate knowledge of emergency situations and advanced surgical equipment and instrumentation

Follow all federal, state, and departmental safety procedures

Candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be considered; local candidates are not accepted

Returning staff who previously worked in a permanent role must wait one year before being considered as a traveler
