PRIMARY FUNCTION
The AmeriCorps Member Experience Specialist is responsible for ensuring that AmeriCorps Members have a positive and enriching service experience. Reporting directly to the AmeriCorps Program Director, the AmeriCorps Member Experience Specialist has broad responsibilities to ensure program-wide activities align to support the AmeriCorps Member experience and individual skill development. They will be responsible for managing communication with the AmeriCorps members regarding organization and site policies, collecting feedback to assess the quality of the AmeriCorps Member experience, and providing input into site planning activities. As the “voice of the corps,” the AmeriCorps Member Experience Specialist collaborates cross-departmentally with the leadership team to identify solutions to site-wide challenges.
KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities)
AmeriCorps Member Community Development
· Responsible for the planning and execution of AmeriCorps Member recognition and appreciation activities. Partners with the Chief Culture Officer to ensure coordination with organization wide appreciation activities and recognition as appropriate.
· Responsible for the coordination, alignment, and communication among community service projects and/or events. Ensure that AmeriCorps Members are provided the opportunity to engage in meaningful service opportunities that provide support to those that need it most in the Martin County community. Opportunities will be based upon an assessment of need through regular and consistent community outreach.
· Work with the AmeriCorps Program Director and Director of Club Operations & Experiences to conduct feedback sessions with AmeriCorps Members to gauge their service experience.
AmeriCorps Member Resources
· Develop new ways to support AmeriCorps Members in finding resources and navigating financial concerns.
· Research and coordinate educational and learning opportunities for the AmeriCorps members.
· Ensure AmeriCorps Members have a strong understanding of the benefits provided through AmeriCorps and offer support as needed.
· Ensure AmeriCorps Members have access to BGCMC and AmeriCorps resources that can provide services/support to them in variety of capacities.
AmeriCorps Member Development
· Cultivate partnerships that enhance professional development opportunities and support members in developing leadership, teamwork, and civic engagement skills.
· Carry a revolving caseload of AmeriCorps Members who would benefit from additional guidance, coaching, or support.
· Partner with the Training Coordinator and AmeriCorps Program Director to create and implement a comprehensive orientation and training schedule for all AmeriCorps Members.
· Ensure that AmeriCorps Members have an optimal experience by providing engaging and relevant training opportunities (monthly) to prepare AmeriCorps Members for life after their service year and support their professional development.
· In consultation with the AmeriCorps Program Director, provide coaching support to Team Leaders who are leading AmeriCorps Members experiencing challenges in their service year.
· Support the AmeriCorps Program Director and Team Leaders in building AmeriCorps Member investment in the Performance Management Process as a tool for professional development.
Returning AmeriCorps Member Recruitment and Team Leadership
· Collaborate with the Human Resources team and align on strategy for recruiting interested AmeriCorps Members.
· In partnership with the Human Resources team and AmeriCorps Program Director, coordinate recruitment events for senior and second year AmeriCorps Members.
Additional Responsibilities
· Participate in outreach opportunities by engaging external stakeholders and community members to build awareness of service opportunities.
· Regular, timely attendance to meet organizational needs efficiently and effectively. Work effectively with peers and other staff members across the organization.
· Generally speaking, will be responsible for visiting Club, and potentially school, sites on a daily basis to support the AmeriCorps Members in the program and continue to enhance their experience working in the Clubs.
· Perform assignments and/or other tasks as directed by the AmeriCorps Program Director.
RELATIONSHIPS
Internal: Maintain contact with AmeriCorps Program Director, AmeriCorps Members, Club Directors, Lead Teachers and additional staff as needed.
External: Maintain contact as needed with external community groups, schools, and others.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
· Bachelor’s Degree required.
· Minimum of 2 years’ program management and/or program implementation experience, preferably in a non-profit setting.
· Demonstrated proficiency in creating partnerships and working in a collaborative environment.
· Proven interpersonal skills including the ability to build relationships, solve problems, mediate conflict and exercise sound judgment.
· Ability to balance multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced evolving environment.
· Demonstrated professional communication skills characterized by active listening, respectful two-way communication, and timely and results-oriented communication.
· Proven ability to adapt to change and innovate through a solution-oriented perspective.
· Experience working with diverse communities and commitment to support all members enrolled in our programs.
· Familiarity with or interest in literacy, education, national service and/or social causes.
· Must have the ability to travel by automobile on a regular basis to locations and/or meetings throughout Martin County.

Compensation
This position offers an annual salary of $55,000 per year.

Schedule
Monday through Friday a shift would fall between 9:00AM and 7:00PM
Hours may vary depending on the location and situation of the day.
Summer Hours & Non-School Days hours will fall between 7:30 AM—5:30 PM.
Occasional night and weekend work.

Must be willing to commute to all Club and school site locations daily.
