Overview
The Fleet Maintenance Manager plays a critical role in overseeing the maintenance and repair of our fleet vehicles to ensure optimal performance and safety. This position requires a strong mechanical background and the ability to manage a team of technicians effectively. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in vehicle maintenance, repair processes, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Lead the daily operations of the fleet maintenance department, ensuring timely and efficient repairs.
- Conduct regular inspections of fleet vehicles to identify maintenance needs and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Oversee equipment repair, including diesel engine repair, brake repair, and general vehicle maintenance.
- Utilize schematics to diagnose issues and implement effective solutions for repairs.
- Manage inventory of parts and supplies necessary for vehicle maintenance and repairs.
- Train and mentor maintenance staff on best practices, safety protocols, and proper use of hand tools.
- Coordinate with other departments to schedule vehicle availability for service without disrupting operations.
- Maintain accurate records of all repairs, inspections, and maintenance activities performed on fleet vehicles.
Skills
- Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in equipment repair and vehicle maintenance. (Diesel experience is a plus!)
- Proficiency in reading schematics to troubleshoot mechanical issues effectively.
- Experience with diesel engine repair and brake repair techniques.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting as required during maintenance tasks.
- Skilled in using hand tools and welding equipment for repairs.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in managing fleet records and schedules.
- Strong communication skills to effectively transmit information between team members and departments.
