What You'll Do
As an ECMO Specialist, you'll be enrolled in a comprehensive ECMO training program while developing the expertise to manage advanced extracorporeal life support for critically ill patients.
Responsibilities include:
- Assist with the setup, preparation, and maintenance of ECMO circuits and equipment
- Help establish and manage extracorporeal life support (ECLS)
- Monitor patient response and continuously assess ECMO circuit performance
- Assist with cannulation procedures, ECMO transports, circuit interventions, and weaning
- Manage ventilators and provide advanced respiratory care
- Administer blood products and medications according to hospital protocols
- Monitor clinical and physiologic parameters while troubleshooting ECMO equipment
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, surgeons, nurses, and respiratory therapists
- Maintain accurate electronic medical record documentation
- Participate in simulation training, continuing education, ECMO team meetings, and quality improvement initiatives
What We're Looking ForRequired Qualifications
- Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy
- Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential
- Current Massachusetts Respiratory Therapist License
- One of the following:
- Minimum of 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience with eligibility for RT II promotion, or
- Minimum of 1 year of external ECMO experience
- Ability to obtain the Neonatal Pediatric Specialist (NPS) credential within 6 months of hire
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory Therapy
