Duties
- Safely operate commercial vehicles such as buses, school buses, and paratransit vans to transport passengers according to scheduled routes and special requests
- Ensure passenger safety by adhering to all traffic laws, safety protocols, and company policies at all times
- Assist passengers with boarding and exiting the vehicle, providing support for those with mobility challenges or special needs
- Maintain accurate records of trips, passenger counts, and vehicle inspections; complete shift reports diligently
- Communicate effectively with passengers, dispatchers, and team members using clear English or multilingual communication skills
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections to identify mechanical issues early; perform basic mechanical checks and report maintenance needs
- Manage behavior and ensure a positive experience for all passengers through excellent customer service and behavior management skills
Requirements
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for bus driving or passenger transport
- Proven experience in bus driving, school bus driving, or paratransit services; familiarity with working with children or seniors is a plus
- Strong communication skills in English; bilingual abilities are highly valued for serving diverse communities
- Ability to work flexible hours including mornings, afternoons, evenings, or weekends as needed
- Mechanical knowledge to perform basic vehicle inspections and troubleshoot minor issues
- Demonstrated commitment to safety and customer service excellence in a transportation setting
- Experience in behavior management or childcare is advantageous for working with young or special needs passengers
