Assistant Clinical Director for the Center for Grief & Loss
Position Summary
Provide clinical oversight for the Center for Grief & Loss (CGL) in compliance with agency policies and procedures. Ensure clients receive uniform and high-quality mental health services by providing guidance, direction and consult to independently contracted CGL mental health professionals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide clinical direction for the Center 25% of Time
· Provide individual clinical consultation, as needed, and facilitate weekly group consultation.
· In collaboration with the Clinical Director develop a comprehensive, realistic and effective overall plan or vision for the program.
· Collaborate with Clinical Director to set goals, develop strategies and schedules for meeting those goals for the program.
· Anticipate obstacles and alternative strategies.
· Under the direction of the Clinical Director Evaluate program outcomes.
· In collaboration with the Clinical Director conduct informal agency consultation regarding requests for debriefs/presentations/outside consultation and crafting an appropriate plan to best meet their needs.
· Collaborate with Clinical Director to develop Annual Budget and Year-end Reports
· Collaborate with Clinical Director to adjust clinical needs to fit community needs (i.e.: increasing groups, CEU events and trainings)
· Collaborate with Clinical Director and Development team in grant funding; finding and completing grant opportunities that are appropriate for the CGL.
· Provide clinical input for emerging trends and service needs.
· Generate ideas with agency leadership staff regarding new approaches to meeting client and community needs.
· Clinically evaluate programs and identify areas of success and opportunities for improvement.
· Assist in ongoing review and updates of CGL website.
· Develops relationships with community organizations including referring to and receiving referrals from them.
· Represent the CGLT program in the community.
· As requested, serve on task forces and represent the agency in collaborative efforts.
· Create and provide blog or article entries as requested by agency
Oversight of Clinical program requirements 25% of Time
· Collaborate with Clinical Director to select new mental health therapists as appropriate.
· Manage goal development and performance for program.
· Review Annual Contracts.
· Provide training, support, and staff development opportunities to agency and community.
· Assist facilitation of intakes and waitlist management with Office Manager
· Keep team informed about agency plans and initiatives.
· Hiring of new contractors: review applications, interview, check references
· Orientation of new contractors to the Center, including Procentive training
· Provide community trainings, seminars, CISD’s, consultation throughout the year
· Monitor implementation of clinical procedures and policies
· Assist in facilitation of multidisciplinary case consultation meetings.
· Attend monthly Billing Meeting with Clinical Director and Office Manager
Administer CGL program quality assurance plan to meet compliance requirements. 10% of Time
· Review report results of peer reviews and client surveys for internal quality review, State licensing and Council on Accreditation purposes.
· Collaborate with office manager to complete annual Peer Review
· Coordinate and assist with required audits as needed
Supervise support staff to meet program requirements 8 % of Time
· Supervise office manager
· Provide performance feedback/Annual Review
· Oversee management of office responsibilities with Office Manager and the appropriate Directors in Stillwater including events, mailings, marketing, ordering office supplies, and other facility management tasks.
· Serve as a liaison to FamilyMeans IT and Facilities staff.
Assess, diagnose, and treat clients 30% of Time
· Conduct initial assessment on individuals, couples, and families and review pertinent records to obtain diagnostic information on psychological, emotional, relationship or other problems.
· Complete Diagnostic Assessment and Diagnostic Reviews; developing diagnoses according to current DSM.
· Collaborate with clients to create a treatment plan reflecting therapeutic work being conducted in sessions, including type, frequency, intensity and duration of therapy.
· Reviewing treatment plans throughout treatment; adjusting as needed.
· Provide regularly scheduled appointments for individuals, couples, and/or families, as needed for their specific presenting problems and associated diagnoses.
· Evaluate effectiveness of counseling; modify treatment plan as needed.
· Providing appropriate referrals as needed, referring for psychiatric care, or other care.

· Serve on agency committees as appropriate.

· Participate in and contribute to the agency’s Performance Quality Improvement process.
· As with all FamilyMeans staff positions, this position is responsible for helping ensure volunteers and interns have an exemplary experience during all interactions with FamilyMeans and is expected to consistently maintain a high level of customer service to all guests, clients, and fellow team members.
· Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education, Licenses and Certifications
· Master’s level degree in Social Work, Psychology, Professional Counseling, or Marriage and Family Therapy is required.
· Previous training or education will include knowledge of: evidence-based practices, psychosocial and ecological perspectives, child development, individual and family functioning, understanding the impact of mental health on the individual and their families, importance of developing clinician/client relationship, impact trauma plays on individual and their families, crisis intervention, assessment criteria for psychiatric referral, and understanding dual diagnosis and treatment implications. Status as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, or Licensed Psychologist in Minnesota.
· Applicable independent licensure and clinical experience in an outpatient setting for 5+ years.
· Preferred: Board Approved Supervisor status in applicable discipline. If discipline is not in Professional Counseling, must be able to obtain Board Approved Supervisor status within a month of hire for LPC/LPCC’s.
Experience
· A minimum of two (2) years of experience providing clinical supervision.
· Experience with individuals, couples, and families of all ages.
· Experience and specialized knowledge in grief, loss and trauma.
Knowledge and Skills
· Demonstrated leadership skills
· Knowledge of mandatory reporting, duty to warn, reportable criminal behavior, and identification of the clinical indicators of suspected abuse and neglect.
· Familiarity with the current DSM criteria for diagnosing.
- Knowledge of Procentive or other electronic health record system
- Strong oral and written communication skills including the ability to speak to groups
- Knowledge of insurance billing and reimbursement systems.
· Broad range of clinical interventions to utilize with clientele and supervisees.
· Ability to write comprehensive progress notes, reports and treatment plans to maintain clinical records.
· Ability to set limits and maintain the helping role of the practitioner and to intervene appropriately to meet the needs of the persons served or other family members.
· Commitment to work collaboratively with all staff, volunteers, program participants, and other supporters.
· Ability to work independently and take initiative.
· Knowledge of HIPAA and privacy laws
· Knowledge and experience about the needs of culturally diverse individuals and their families.
· Valid driver’s license with a driving record that meets agency qualifications. Must have reliable transportation to commute between locations.

This position requires the incumbent to travel to the main office in Stillwater occasionally. The position typically works in a general office environment. The noise level in the work environment is generally moderate with increased levels during busy periods.
General Details: The position reports to the Clinical Director and currently manages a team of 1 employee and 10+ independent contractors. The role will be between 32 and 40 hours per week (to be decided with Hiring Manager)
Location: St. Paul, MN office on beautiful Grand Avenue (the position allows one day per week to be remote after being fully trained on the position). There will also be a few meetings a month at our Stillwater, MN location
Pay: This is an exempt role paying between $62,088-$97,012 per year. This will be determined based on your years of applicable experience and weekly scheduled hours
