Job Summary:
Ward’s Berry Farm is seeking hard-working, reliable Field Hands to assist with all aspects of field production during the growing season. This position is strictly field-based and focuses on the care and cultivation of crops in outdoor environments. Field Hands will support planting, weeding, maintenance, and harvesting of high-quality produce. Applicants should be prepared for physical work in various weather conditions and enjoy working outdoors.
Responsibilities:
- Crop Maintenance:
- Hand weeding and hoeing of crops.
- Cultivating soil and applying mulch or other amendments as directed.
- Trellising, pruning, and thinning crops.
- Assisting with irrigation setup and adjustments.
- Monitoring plant health and reporting issues to supervisors.
- Harvest Support:
- Field harvesting of crops as directed (manual picking and gathering).
- Transporting harvested produce to collection points
- Washing and Packing of produce
- Field Upkeep:
- Field cleanup and removal of crop debris.
- Basic maintenance of field equipment and tools.
Qualifications
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions (sun, rain, wind, cold).
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform repetitive physical tasks (bending, squatting, standing for long periods).
- Willingness to follow instructions and work at an efficient pace.
- Dependable, punctual, and team-oriented.
- Previous experience with outdoor labor or farming is a plus but not required — training will be provided.
