Summary of Responsibilities
As a Senior Accountant at PRP & Associates, you will take ownership of the full accounting cycle for a portfolio of approximately 2–5 business clients, serving as a trusted accounting partner to business owners and leadership teams.
You will manage monthly close, reconciliations, financial reporting, and ongoing accounting needs while helping clients understand what their financials are telling them. This is a highly client-facing position requiring strong accounting fundamentals, analytical thinking, organization, and the ability to independently solve problems and keep work moving forward.
This role is designed for an experienced accountant who wants to continue developing beyond traditional accounting responsibilities. As you demonstrate technical expertise, client leadership, and business advisory capabilities, there is an opportunity to grow into a Fractional Controller role with PRP.
Essential Functions
- Own the full accounting cycle for a portfolio of approximately 2–5 clients across multiple industries
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
- Prepare and review financial statements, reconciliations, adjusting entries, and supporting schedules
- Analyze financial results, identify discrepancies or unusual activity, and independently investigate issues
- Communicate financial results and accounting matters directly with business owners and client leadership
- Develop strong client relationships and serve as a trusted resource for accounting questions and business decisions
- Manage competing deadlines and priorities across multiple client engagements
- Proactively identify missing information, follow up with clients, and keep engagements moving forward
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, reporting, and client workflows
- Collaborate with PRP's accounting and tax teams to ensure accurate and timely client deliverables
- Maintain a high standard of accuracy, accountability, and professional communication
- Develop the financial analysis and advisory capabilities necessary to progress toward a Fractional Controller role
Education, Experience, and Skills Required
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally including Senior Accountant-level responsibilities
- Strong full-cycle accounting experience, including month-end close, reconciliations, adjusting entries, and financial statement preparation
- Strong understanding of GAAP and fundamental accounting principles
- Demonstrated ability to independently investigate discrepancies and solve accounting problems
- Experience managing multiple clients, entities, or business units simultaneously
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable communicating directly with business owners and explaining financial information
- Strong attention to detail and ability to recognize when financial information doesn't make sense
- Proficiency with QuickBooks Online and ability to quickly learn new accounting and workflow systems
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Degree not required if experience is equivalent)
Compensation
- $75,000-$90,000 depending on experience
- Employment Type: Full-time (overtime paid during tax season)
