Position Overview
The Danville Hotel Collection is seeking a highly organized, hospitality-driven Director of Sales & Operations to oversee group business, events, food and beverage programming, and cross-property operational support for The Bee Hotel, The Holbrook Hotel, and The Laurel Hotel.
This position serves as the primary point of contact for all group business from the initial inquiry through departure. The Director will manage group room blocks, event coordination, group resumes, internal communication, and on-site execution while building relationships that generate new corporate, group, event, and extended-stay business.
This is a hands-on leadership position requiring flexibility, strong follow-through, and a willingness to support hotel operations wherever needed. The Director must be available to work weekends as business demands, including Saturdays involving group arrivals, event check-ins, or on-site events as needed.
Key ResponsibilitiesGroup Sales & Account Management

Serve as the primary point of contact for all group business across the Danville Hotel Collection.
- Respond promptly to group, corporate, wedding, sports, event, and extended-stay inquiries.
- Prepare proposals, contracts, room blocks, rate agreements, and event documentation.
- Oversee and manage F&B team, including servers, bartenders, rooftop attendant(s), breakfast attendants, kitchen team, and supervisor(s), as well as utilize administrative support as needed.
- Manage group business from initial inquiry and contracting through arrival, event execution with support team, and post-stay follow-up.
- Maintain accurate group blocks, rooming lists, reservation details, cutoff dates, billing instructions, and special requests.
- Develop and distribute detailed group resumes to ensure every department is prepared for group arrivals and events.
- Conduct pre-arrival meetings and communicate group needs clearly across front office, housekeeping, maintenance, food and beverage, and leadership teams.
- Build and maintain relationships with local businesses, event planners, wedding professionals, sports organizations, universities, tourism partners, and community organizations.
- Prospect for new corporate accounts, negotiated-rate clients, group opportunities, and long-term-stay business.
- Conduct site tours and represent the collection at community, networking, and sales events.
- Track sales activity, group production, tentative business, conversion, and follow-up needs.
- Maintain organized sales records and accurate information within the property management and sales systems.
Events & On-Site Execution

Coordinate hotel events, private rentals, rooftop events, weddings, group gatherings, and community programming.
- Confirm event timelines, layouts, vendor details, guest counts, food and beverage needs, payment schedules, and property requirements.
- Serve as the on-site point of contact for events and high-priority group arrivals.
- Flex schedule and work on weekends when group check-ins or events are scheduled and remain flexible for additional evenings, weekends, and holidays as business demands.
- Coordinate with vendors, entertainment, caterers, rental companies, and internal hotel teams.
- Ensure event spaces are properly prepared, staffed, maintained, and restored after each event.
- Anticipate challenges and resolve guest, client, or operational concerns quickly and professionally.
Food, Beverage & Alcohol Operations

Oversee and support breakfast service, rooftop happy hours, special events, and other food and beverage programming.
- Oversee F&B team, including servers, bartenders, rooftop attendant(s), breakfast attendants, kitchen team, and supervisor(s).
- Coordinate/oversee ordering, receiving, stocking, organization, and inventory of beer, wine, food, and operating supplies with support of team members.
- Monitor inventory levels, product usage, pricing, waste, and event needs.
- Help develop menus, beverage offerings, event packages, and service procedures.
- Ensure alcohol service follows all applicable ABC regulations and internal policies.
- Maintain required records and support alcohol licensing, compliance, and reporting responsibilities.
- Create clear staffing plans, setup instructions, service expectations, and closing procedures for food and beverage events.
- Work alongside the team during busy events and service periods as needed.
Hotel Operations Support

Provide hands-on operational support across all three hotels and in all departments as needed.
- Assist front office, housekeeping, maintenance, food and beverage, breakfast, and guest service operations during high-volume periods or staffing gaps.
- Support group and event staffing plans and help ensure adequate departmental coverage.
- Work closely with hotel managers to resolve guest concerns and protect the overall guest experience.
- Help develop and/or improve SOPs, checklists, workflows, communication systems, and operational processes.
- Monitor property presentation and ensure event spaces, public areas, and guest arrival areas meet collection standards.
- Assist with special projects, property initiatives, openings, community partnerships, and other priorities assigned by the Regional General Manager.
- Promote consistent communication and collaboration across all three properties.
Leadership Expectations
The Director of Sales & Operations is expected to take ownership of assigned business, communicate proactively, and follow every detail through completion. The successful candidate will understand that hospitality leadership is highly visible and hands-on. This role requires someone who can move comfortably between client communication, administrative work, event execution, and direct hotel operations support.
Qualifications

Previous hotel sales, event management, catering, food and beverage, or hotel operations experience strongly preferred.
- Experience managing group room blocks, contracts, rooming lists, events, or corporate accounts preferred.
- 5+ years of hotel management experience required.
- Strong written, verbal, organizational, and client-service skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines and events simultaneously.
- Comfortable learning and working within hotel property management, sales, event, and point-of-sale systems.
- Working knowledge of food and beverage operations and responsible alcohol service.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm during busy arrivals and events.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multiple hotel departments.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation between properties.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and assist with event setup, breakdown, inventory, and other physical operational tasks.
- Flexible availability, including evenings, holidays, and weekends as needed. Availability for weekends involving VIP events or group arrivals is an essential requirement.
