Position Summary
Lesco Design & Manufacturing is seeking a skilled Machinist to set up, operate, and maintain manual and CNC machine tools used in the fabrication of custom material handling equipment, structural steel components, industrial platforms, ramps, and related products. The Machinist will be responsible for producing precision parts that meet engineering specifications, quality standards, and production schedules while maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC and conventional machine tools including lathes, mills, drill presses, saws, and related equipment.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, specifications, and work orders.
- Measure, inspect, and verify finished parts using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, indicators, and gauges.
- Perform machining operations including drilling, boring, turning, milling, tapping, threading, and cutting.
- Select appropriate tooling, cutting speeds, feeds, and machine settings for various materials.
- Maintain close tolerances and ensure parts meet quality requirements.
- Perform routine machine maintenance and identify equipment requiring repair.
- Work closely with engineering, fabrication, and welding departments to ensure efficient production flow.
- Troubleshoot machining issues and recommend process improvements.
- Maintain accurate production records and inspection documentation.
- Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and quality procedures.
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and free of hazards.
- Assist with special projects and other manufacturing duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Technical school training or apprenticeship in machining preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of machining experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Experience operating CNC equipment and understanding G-code programming preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
- Strong mathematical and mechanical aptitude.
- Knowledge of machining practices, tooling, materials, and quality control procedures.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and climb as necessary.
- Ability to safely operate machinery and material handling equipment.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, vibration, and varying temperatures.

Work Environment
This position is based in a manufacturing facility and requires compliance with all safety procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Pay: $22.24 - $30.40 per hour
