The purpose of this position is to provide district-wide support to Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) and students in understanding and use of Alternative/Augmentative Communication (AAC) and provide professional leadership to the team of SLPs across the district. The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) will work directly with the Assistive Technology Team & Director of Related & Itinerant Services. As a member of the Assistive Technology team, the SLP will conduct Alternative/Augmentative Communication (AAC) evaluations & train school based SLPs to conduct evaluations, trial devices and implement AAC across school settings.
- Serving as a professional point of contact for SLPs regarding caseload management, appropriate use of diagnostic tools and therapy techniques.
- Planning and presenting professional development for the SLP team to ensure ongoing use of evidence-based practices across the district.
- Assisting with recruitment and retention of SLPs to ensure continuity of services for all students.
- Coordinating and overseeing telehealth speech-language services.
- Collaborating with colleagues and parents to share information and expertise to plan and implement effective communication programs for EC students.
- Participating as a member of a multidisciplinary team to make recommendations for augmentative communication and assistive technology accommodations and
- Participating in IEP meeting for students who need augmentative communication and assistive technology supports for the purpose of developing an appropriate IEP.
- Proficiently use technology to communicate, compile reports, and collect data for the purpose of providing accurate records and communicating with team members, parents, administration, and district staff.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Thorough knowledge of theory, principles and methods in speech pathology and their proper application in educational environments
- Knowledge of federal and NC state regulations governing students with disabilities
- Knowledge of current literature, trends and developments in the field of speech pathology.
- Knowledge of current trends in augmentative communication, accessibility, and assistive technology services for public school students.
- Knowledge of appropriate augmentative communication assessments protocols.
- Working knowledge of the principles, practices, and ethical standards of assistive technology; relevant state and federal laws, rules and regulations; and applicable district policies and
