Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Certified Phlebotomist to join our healthcare team. Duties
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood draws with precision, adhering to aseptic techniques and safety protocols
- Collect, label, process, and handle specimens according to established laboratory procedures and standards
- Provide compassionate patient care, explaining procedures clearly and ensuring comfort during specimen collection
- Verify patient identity using proper identification methods and document all collection details accurately in electronic health records (EHR) systems
- Monitor vital signs when necessary, especially for geriatric and pediatric patients, ensuring their safety throughout procedures
- Maintain strict adherence to laboratory techniques and specimen handling protocols to prevent contamination or errors
- Assist with laboratory tasks such as data entry, specimen processing, and preparation for testing as needed
Requirements
- Certification as a Phlebotomist from an accredited program, with current Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification
- Proven experience in medical laboratory work, including venipuncture, blood sampling, and specimen collection/processing
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and clinical laboratory procedures
- Prior hospital or healthcare facility experience preferred, with familiarity using EMR/EHR systems for documentation and data entry
- Excellent patient service skills with the ability to care for diverse populations including pediatrics and geriatrics
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary, along with standing, walking, and maintaining focus during repetitive tasks
- Knowledge of aseptic technique to ensure specimen integrity and safety compliance
