Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kennel Attendant to join our animal care team. This role involves caring for animals through feeding, maintaining kennel cleanliness, and providing emotional and physical interaction and engagement. The ideal candidate will have a genuine love for animals, strong attention to detail, and the ability to handle various pet care tasks efficiently. Responsibilities
- Feed, water, and monitor animals’ health and behavior throughout their stay
- Clean and disinfect kennels, cages, and surrounding areas to ensure a hygienic environment
- Observe animals for signs of illness or distress and report findings to veterinary staff
- Handle animals with care using proper animal handling techniques
- Support veterinary technicians and assistants with routine tasks
- Maintain records of animal care activities
- Engage with volunteers and visitors professionally, answering questions and providing assistance when needed
Qualifications
- Prior experience in dog training, pet grooming, or kennel work is preferred
- Veterinary experience or veterinary technician/assistant background is a plus
- Strong animal handling skills with patience and compassion
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary (e.g., lifting animals or supplies)
- Knowledge of pet care best practices and safety protocols
- Reliable, responsible, and able to work independently or as part of a team
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and perform cleaning duties efficiently
