Amazon's Global Road Safety (GRS) organization is looking for a seasoned, high-judgment leader to lead Amazon’s external engagement for on-road safety performance across our worldwide delivery and transportation operations. This is a high-visibility, externally focused role that sits at the intersection of safety operations, public affairs, and strategic communications, reporting into Amazon's Global Road Safety leader.
Every day, Amazon moves millions of packages to customers around the world while upholding a relentless commitment to safety for our drivers, for the communities we serve, and for every road user. The Senior Manager, Global Road Safety Engagement will translate Amazon's strong and continuously improving safety record into compelling external narratives, proactive policy positions, and durable partnerships that advance road safety for commercial drivers and the general public worldwide.
In this role, you will build and lead a team of engagement professionals while developing and executing Amazon's global strategy for external safety engagement — shaping how we tell our safety story, who we tell it to, and how we influence the public policy landscape to improve safety for the entire industry. You will build trust with regulators, legislators, media, NGOs, and academic institutions across multiple geographies. You will also partner deeply with internal teams — Safety, Operations, Legal, Public Policy, and Public Relations — to create and execute a strategy that amplifies Amazon’s message on road safety.
This is a role for someone who has bias for action, thinks big, earns trust through transparency and expertise, and is energized by the opportunity to build a high-performing team and help shape the future of commercial road safety on a global stage.
Key job responsibilities
Team Leadership & Development

- Coach and develop team members through regular feedback, mentorship, and stretch assignments that grow capabilities and career trajectories.
- Attract and retain top talent; build a team that reflects diverse perspectives and experiences relevant to a worldwide mandate.
External Safety Communications & Thought Leadership
- Develop and execute a worldwide strategy to proactively share Amazon's on-road safety performance, innovations (e.g., advanced driver-assistance systems, collision avoidance technology, telematics, driver training programs), and outcomes with media, industry groups, policymakers, and the public.
- Position Amazon as a global leader in commercial fleet safety through earned media, published research, keynote presentations, and executive thought leadership.
- Translate complex safety data, such as collision rates, incident trends, and technology adoption metrics into accessible, persuasive narratives for diverse audiences, from legislative briefings to press releases to global safety conferences.
Public Policy & Regulatory Engagement
- Identify, shape, and advocate for public policies that improve road safety for commercial drivers and the general public worldwide.
- Partner with Public Policy to best represent Amazon in rulemaking proceedings, public consultations, industry working groups, and legislative forums. Provide clear, confident guidance in situations of high ambiguity.
Industry Partnerships & Coalition Building
- Forge and sustain alliances with road safety advocacy organizations, academic institutions, industry associations, think tanks, and peer companies to advance shared safety objectives.
- Lead and participate in multi-stakeholder initiatives that accelerate best-practice adoption across the commercial fleet industry.
- Identify and pursue opportunities for joint research, data sharing, and co-investment in road safety outcomes.
Cross-Functional Strategy & Coordination
- Partner with Amazon's Safety and Operations teams to ensure external engagement is rooted in operational reality and data integrity.
- Coordinate with Public Relations, Legal, and Public Policy to align messaging across geographies and business units — ensuring consistency and leveraging the experiences of the broader team.
- Provide strategic communications counsel to senior Amazon leaders on road safety matters, including both proactive opportunities and reactive/issues management scenarios.
Measurement & Continuous Improvement
- Define success metrics for external safety engagement — media sentiment, policy outcomes, coalition growth, brand perception — and report progress to senior leadership.
- Continuously refine strategy based on data, stakeholder feedback, and evolving industry dynamics.
