Support Staff / Food Runner
YAVA Kitchen & Brewhouse is seeking energetic, dependable team members to join our service team as Support Staff and Food Runners. This position plays an important role in keeping food moving quickly, tables clean and ready, service stations stocked, and both the dining room and bar supported throughout the shift.
Team members may be assigned as a Food Runner, Server Assistant, or Barback based on business needs and training. The ideal candidate works with urgency, communicates clearly, stays organized, and enjoys being part of a fast-paced team.
Key Responsibilities
Food Runner Responsibilities
- Pick up completed food from the expo line and deliver it promptly to the correct table and guest.
- Verify table numbers, seat numbers, menu items, sides, sauces, modifiers, and allergy instructions before leaving expo.
- Announce each dish clearly and professionally when placing it in front of the guest.
- Handle plates and trays safely while using proper kitchen movement calls such as “hot,” “behind,” and “corner.”
- Communicate missing, incorrect, delayed, or remade items immediately to the server and expo team.
- Keep the expo and food-running areas clean, organized, stocked, and ready for service.
Support Staff Responsibilities
- Pre-bus tables and remove finished plates, glassware, and trash without interrupting the guest experience.
- Clean, sanitize, and reset tables according to YAVA standards.
- Maintain water service, silverware, napkins, menus, condiments, service stations, and other dining-room supplies.
- Support servers with large parties, table turns, patio service, highchairs, and guest requests.
- Assist the bar by restocking clean glassware, ice, napkins, straws, coasters, garnishes, mixers, and other approved supplies.
- Remove trash, recycling, empty containers, and dirty service items.
- Keep floors, service lanes, bar areas, drains, mats, and workstations clean, dry, and free of hazards.
- Communicate priorities and completed tasks clearly with servers, bartenders, hosts, kitchen employees, and managers.
Qualifications
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Ability to work quickly while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Willingness to learn the menu, table numbers, seat positions, modifiers, and common allergens.
- Ability to stand and move throughout the shift and safely carry trays, plates, glassware, and restaurant supplies.
- Dependable attendance and a positive, guest-focused attitude.
- Previous restaurant experience is helpful but not required; training will be provided.
Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
