Import/Export Coordinator & Data Entry ClerkPosition Summary
We are seeking an experienced Import/Export Coordinator & Data Entry Clerk to join our logistics team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience managing international shipments, preparing import/export documentation, coordinating with freight forwarders and customs brokers, and accurately entering shipment information into company systems.
This position requires someone who is detail-oriented, organized, and knowledgeable in both ocean and air freight operations, including bonded shipments.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate import and export shipments from origin to final delivery.
- Prepare, review, and process import/export documentation.
- Enter shipment information accurately into internal systems.
- Coordinate with freight forwarders, customs brokers, steamship lines, trucking companies, and warehouses.
- Monitor shipment status and communicate updates to customers and internal departments.
- Schedule deliveries and coordinate appointments with ports and terminals.
- Ensure compliance with U.S. Customs regulations and company procedures.
- Maintain accurate shipment records and filing systems.
- Resolve shipment discrepancies and documentation issues promptly.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2-3 years of import/export logistics experience.
- Experience handling both ocean and air shipments.
- Strong understanding of international shipping documentation, including:
- Bills of Lading (B/L)
- Air Waybills (AWB)
- Commercial Invoices
- Packing Lists
- Arrival Notices
- Delivery Orders
- Experience working with the Port of Long Beach and marine terminals.
- Knowledge of container import processes, terminal releases, appointments, and drayage coordination.
- Experience handling bonded shipments, including preparation and processing of CBP Form 7512 (Transportation Entry and Manifest of Goods Subject to CBP Inspection and Permit).
- Familiarity with U.S. Customs procedures and bonded freight movements.
- Excellent computer and data entry skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple shipments while meeting deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with customs brokers and freight forwarders.
- Familiarity with ACE, customs compliance procedures, and import/export regulations.
- Experience with warehouse coordination and inventory receiving.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and logistics or ERP software.
