Position Information:
This is a part-time position with Harper Medical Group – Central Valley Conditional Release Program in Sacramento.
Responsibilities:
The residential counselor will facilitate social dynamic groups with forensic mental health patients within a board and care or room and board setting and provide supervision of patients during activities in the home and out in the community. Additionally, the counselor will document patient performance at the end of each shift. The counselor will be expected to notify the agency on-call staff of any concerns regarding patients, reinforce compliance with the program rules and be able to set appropriate limits and boundaries with the patients, maintain a working relationship with the perspective Board and Care/Room and Board operators and their staff and participate in quarterly staff meetings and in-service training sessions as scheduled. Hours may include Sat. & Sun. 10am - 3:30pm on the weekend and weekday hours 5:30 - 8:30pm.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent along with college courses in Behavioral Science and two years experience working in a mental health setting with mentally disabled adults. You should have a working knowledge of activities and their application to a mental health setting and an ability to work with minimal supervision.
As an employee of Harper Medical Group, you would be working as a member of an interdisciplinary team comprised of Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists, Psychologists, and Psychiatrists to provide quality treatment to facilitate patient growth and insure community safety.
