Job Summary
We are seeking a Drafter / Technical Designer with deep technical expertise and exceptional drafting precision. The ideal candidate brings a proven track record of producing clear, meticulous, and fully coordinated drawing sets for complex projects.
This role supports senior designers by translating design concepts into precise 2D blueprints, spatial layouts, construction details, and 3D models for high-end residential, commercial, and hospitality projects. Scope covers both interior and exterior architectural elements using AutoCAD, Revit, and SketchUp.
Why join us
Established for over 25 years, Seed Design is a premier design-build firm specializing in high-end, bespoke residential, commercial and hospitality spaces.
As a rapidly scaling firm, we offer an exceptional environment for ambitious professionals looking to sharpen their expertise. Working with us provides direct exposure to non-standard, highly intricate design details, custom fabrication methods, and top-tier project execution- along with strong long-term career stability, competitive compensation, and clear pathways for professional growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Execution: Produce highly accurate 2D/3D packages- including floor plans, elevations, sections, millwork details, schedules and complex interior/exterior construction details- using AutoCAD, Revit, and SketchUp.
- Problem-Solving & Logic: Independently analyze design intent, audit engineering markups, and resolve spatial or detail conflicts before escalation.
- Visual Deliverables: Build accurate 3D models that strictly align with specified materials, dimensions, and architectural intent.
- Drawing Set Integrity & Coordination: Coordinate changes seamlessly across all sheets, schedules, and specifications while maintaining impeccable layer standards and digital file organization.
- Digital Architecture & Archiving: Maintain a highly organized, standardized file structure across shared local servers and cloud storage platforms.
Qualifications & Core Standards
- Education & Experience: Degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or Architectural Drafting with proven technical production experience in high-end design sectors.
- 2+ years producing architectural/interior construction documents (residential or hospitality preferred).
- Software Mastery: Advanced, fluent proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and SketchUp.
- Rigorous Attention to Detail: Zero tolerance for unverified dimensions, sloppy markups, or unvetted drawing sets.
- Critical Thinking: Demonstrated ability to dissect complex architectural markups, perform root-cause analysis on design discrepancies, and present well-thought-out solutions alongside technical queries.
- Accountability & Drive: Self-governed, highly punctual, and able to thrive under tight project milestones without micro-management.
- Workload & Energy Management: Excellent self-management skills to maintain consistent focus, accuracy, and output throughout high-intensity project cycles.
- Clear communication and comfort in a fast-paced, open-studio environment (on-site role).
Compensation & Benefits
- Regular salary after successful review: $60,000–$75,000 (DOE) + annual performance bonus.
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 am–6:00 pm, on-site at our Manhattan studio. This role is only full time office position. We will not be considering candidates for who aim to work remotely, even part-time.
- PTO, paid holidays and a professional-development stipend, where needed.
- Direct mentorship from two senior designers and exposure to every project phase. Introductory Period.
