Position Summary
The purpose of this role is to profitably manage the complete lifecycle of used equipment inventory through disciplined purchasing, inventory management, pricing strategy, reconditioning oversight, and inventory turn management while protecting company cash flow and gross margin.
This role reports to the VP of Construction Sales and VP of Ag Sales and works closely with the Inventory Manager to ensure all inventory is accurate, properly represented, and consistently maintained across all internal and external systems and platforms.
This position operates as both a strategic and operational leadership role focused on inventory management, asset performance, market positioning, inventory turn, dealership profitability, and long-term inventory health. This position can be located at one of our two Weld County locations, Hudson or Greeley.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead all used equipment purchasing efforts including wholesale purchases, auction purchases, trades, and private-party acquisitions
- Evaluate all incoming trade units for resale value, repair exposure, marketability, inventory fit, and overall ROI potential
- Manage the full lifecycle of used inventory from acquisition through retail, wholesale, auction, or final disposition
- Develop and maintain used equipment inventory strategy focused on margin protection, inventory turn, cash flow management, and ROI
- Monitor inventory aging and implement action plans for units exceeding target turn timelines
- Establish resale pricing strategies based on market conditions, comparable sales, auction trends, inventory position, and retail demand
- Analyze market trends, auction data, wholesale movement, and regional inventory conditions to proactively adjust purchasing decisions and inventory strategy
- Develop and maintain target inventory mix strategies by machine class, age, hours, price point, and market demand
- Work closely with Parts and Service departments to develop appropriate reconditioning plans, manage repair spending, and maintain reconditioning ROI targets
- Ensure used inventory is retail-ready and online within company target timelines including inspections, service completion, photos, videos, descriptions, and pricing
- Oversee used equipment merchandising including online listings, machine descriptions, pricing accuracy, inventory visibility, and overall digital presentation
- Work closely with the Inventory Manager to maintain inventory accuracy across IntelliDealer, website listings, Sandhills platforms, and internal reporting systems
- Maintain accurate and timely inventory documentation, notes, costing, pricing updates, and status tracking within IntelliDealer and all related inventory platforms
- Utilize reporting, analytics, and inventory systems to support data-driven decision-making and operational efficiency
- Coordinate inventory movement between locations while monitoring transportation costs, logistics efficiency, and inventory flow
- Build and maintain relationships with wholesalers, auction representatives, dealers, rental houses, and outside inventory sources
- Assist sales teams with trade evaluations, used inventory positioning, and deal structure support
- Develop and maintain reporting processes around used inventory performance, profitability, aging, inventory turn, and carrying costs
- Exercise disciplined financial decision-making related to acquisitions, reconditioning approvals, pricing strategy, and inventory disposition to ensure alignment with company profitability goals
- Maintain strong awareness of inventory carrying costs, capital utilization, and overall asset performance
- Work closely with executive leadership to align used inventory strategy with overall company financial goals, growth initiatives, and cash flow objectives
- Demonstrate strong cross-functional leadership by partnering closely with Sales, Parts, Service, Rentals, and Administration teams to drive alignment, accountability, and efficient inventory execution
- Maintain proactive communication with internal teams regarding inventory status, aging concerns, market opportunities, and disposition strategy
- Help foster a culture of urgency, ownership, accountability, and high integrity surrounding used inventory management and decision-making
- Travel periodically for auctions, inventory inspections, dealer visits, and industry events as needed

Pay: $110,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
