American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with at least 1 year of experience for a 13-week acute care travel assignment covering inpatient, ER, ICU, and med-surg floors with rotating weekends and holidays.

Acute care hospital setting covering inpatient floors, ER, ICU, med-surg, and facility-wide emergencies
-
Primarily adult patients, with minimal pediatric and neonatal cases (ER or newborn); travel RTs may occasionally be asked to cover high-risk deliveries at very low frequency

Approximately 20–25 treatments per RT per shift, typically 2 RTs per shift
-
12-hour shifts, primarily days (0600–1800), with rare variable night shifts (1800–0600); any schedule changes are discussed with the traveler in advance
-
Rotating weekends approximately every 3rd weekend depending on staffing
-
Holiday coverage required: 2 of 3 winter holidays and every other holiday otherwise

No on-call or float requirements

EMR: Cerner (transitioning to Epic)

Ventilators in use: PB980, PB840, SurvoU, LTV1200, and Hamilton

BiPAP/CPAP equipment: V60 and Home ResMed; High Flow: Optiflow

RRT credential via NBRC required
-
Minimum 1 year of respiratory therapy experience
-
Current certifications required: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), NRP, and PALS (AHA)
-
Proficiency with mechanical ventilators, BiPAP/CPAP, and basic RT treatments required
-
Experience with EKGs and intubation assist required; ability to insert king airways in emergency situations prior to provider arrival

Previous travel assignment experience preferred

License required if applicable — active license must be obtained prior to start date

2 professional references required for consideration: 1 supervisor reference within the last 12 months of relevant experience, and 1 peer or supervisor reference within the last 3 years of relevant specialty experience

Daily duties include basic respiratory therapies, ABGs, EKGs, BiPAP/CPAP, ventilator management (including intubation weaning and extubation), and timely charting in Cerner
-
RTs are expected to assist with intubation and insert king airways in emergency situations prior to provider arrival
-
Hospitalist coverage is available 24/7; intensivist is in-house for the majority of the day with eICU support overnight
-
Orientation consists of 3 structured shifts: equipment review with the lead RT, department orientation and shadowing, and a shift on the assigned schedule

Teamwork is essential — RTs are expected to assist colleagues and collaborate closely across the department

Dark green scrubs required

Candidates living within 80 miles of the facility are considered local, which may affect the travel pay rate
