Position Summary
We are looking for an experienced Tree Climber / Arborist to assist with residential and commercial tree trimming, pruning, removals, and related tree-care projects.
This is a temporary, project-based 1099 contractor position with competitive hourly compensation. The ideal candidate is an experienced, safety-conscious tree climber who can work independently and as part of a small crew.
Responsibilities
- Safely climb trees using appropriate climbing equipment and techniques
- Perform tree trimming and pruning using proper arboricultural practices
- Perform tree removals, including technical removals when qualified
- Safely operate chainsaws and other tree-care equipment
- Perform rigging and controlled lowering of branches and sections of trees
- Assist with storm-damaged and hazardous tree work
- Operate or work around chippers, stump grinders, loaders, aerial lifts, and other equipment
- Use bucket trucks/aerial lifts when qualified
- Help with brush removal, cleanup, hauling, and job-site organization
- Maintain and properly use personal climbing gear and tools
- Follow all applicable safety procedures and manufacturer recommendations
- Maintain a clean and safe work area
- Work professionally and respectfully around customers and their property
Qualifications
Required:
- Previous professional tree-climbing or arborist experience
- Demonstrated ability to safely climb trees
- Experience with chainsaws and tree-care equipment
- Knowledge of basic pruning and tree-removal techniques
- Ability to work safely at heights
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Reliable transportation to job sites
- Strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship
Preferred / Additional Qualifications:
- Experience with technical tree removals
- Rigging experience
- Bucket truck/aerial lift experience
- Arborist certification or formal arboriculture training
Experience with chippers, stump grinders, loaders, or other heavy equipment

The ideal contractor will be an experienced climber who can arrive at a job site and safely get to work with minimal supervision.

Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to:
- Climb and work safely at significant heights
- Frequently stand, walk, bend, reach, and work overhead
- Lift and carry equipment and branches
- Safely handle chainsaws and other equipment
- Work on uneven terrain
- Lift and/or move materials weighing up to approximately 50 pounds
- Work outdoors for extended periods
Compensation
$25.00–$38.00 per hour, depending on experience, demonstrated climbing ability, technical skills, equipment experience, and responsibilities.
Higher compensation within the range will be considered for contractors with strong climbing, rigging, technical-removal, and/or aerial-lift experience.
Payment will be made according to the agreed-upon contractor payment schedule.
1099 Independent Contractor Position
This is a temporary, project-based independent contractor position. It is not an employee position and does not include health insurance, retirement benefits, paid vacation, paid holidays, or other employee benefits at this time. This position could lead to full-time employment for the right team member that can demonstrate leadership and professionalism.
