Job Overview
The Kitchen & BOH Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all back-of-house (BOH) operations, including bakery production, food preparation, and kitchen staff supervision. This role ensures that all products are prepared and presented according to Starter Bakery standards for quality, consistency, and safety. The Supervisor provides leadership, training, and mentorship to the kitchen team, motivating through example while maintaining an organized, efficient, and collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Set a positive example through professionalism, decision-making, and consistent communication.
- Model accountability and teamwork; address issues promptly and collaboratively.
- Provide performance feedback, coaching, and mentorship to team members.
- Train new staff following company standards and ensure proper onboarding.
- Address attendance and punctuality concerns in a timely and respectful manner.
- Support the Café Manager in scheduling and shift coverage to ensure production continuity.
- Oversee kitchen operations including prep, cooking, decorating, and finishing.
- Ensure adherence to food safety, GMP, and sanitation standards at all times.
- Maintain and enforce cleaning and sanitation schedules for equipment and facilities.
- Monitor oven temperatures, proofing, and baking processes to prevent deviations.
- Label, date, and store all ingredients and finished products properly (FIFO).
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace and oversee end-of-day breakdowns.
- Ensure allergen-handling procedures are properly followed.
Qualifications
- Minimum 1-2 years of café, bakery, or culinary experience.
- Minimum 2 years of supervisory or leadership experience.
- Strong knowledge of baking and pastry production.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- ServSafe certification preferred.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Pay: $23.66 - $30.00 per hour
