About Your After School
When the school day ends, enrichment begins. Your After School partners with schools and families across Connecticut and New York to deliver safe, joyful after-school programs where kids explore their interests, discover new passions, and grow into confident, capable young people. As we grow, we're ready to invest in marketing as a true driver of that mission — and we're looking for the person to build it.
About the Role
This is a build-it-and-own-it role for a strategic marketer who wants the whole canvas. As our Marketing Manager, you won't be executing someone else's plan — you'll be creating it. You'll define Your After School's marketing strategy from the ground up and own every channel that carries our brand to families and schools: positioning and messaging, brand identity, social media, blog and website content, email and newsletters, SEO, events, and reputation.
You'll be our dedicated marketing leader and, for now, a team of one — which means real ownership, real autonomy, and a direct line to the Founder. It's a role for someone who can set the strategy and roll up their sleeves to make it happen, using modern tools (including Canva and AI-assisted content) to move quickly without a big team behind them. If you've wanted the chance to shape a brand end to end and see your fingerprints on everything, this is it.
What You'll Do
Set the Strategy
- Build and own Your After School's overall marketing strategy — goals, audiences, positioning, messaging, and the annual marketing plan — in partnership with the Founder
- Define and steward the brand: voice, visual identity, and guidelines, so families and schools experience one consistent brand everywhere they encounter us
- Own the marketing calendar and budget, prioritizing the channels and campaigns that drive enrollment and strengthen school partnerships
- Translate company goals — enrollment growth, new school partnerships, seasonal registration — into concrete marketing initiatives
Own the Content & Brand
- Direct all creative and content across the brand — flyers, school-facing materials, social graphics, website, and email — produced in-house (Canva, AI-assisted design) or coordinated with contractors as needed
- Write and manage the blog: program stories, SEO-supporting posts, and helpful content families want to share
- Own the website's marketing content — keep it current, on-brand, and optimized to turn visiting families into enrolled ones
- Capture and curate program photos and video that bring our afternoons to life
Run Social & Community
- Plan, create, and schedule content across Instagram, Facebook, and other channels, growing engagement with parents, schools, and community partners
- Manage day-to-day community — monitor and respond to comments and messages in our voice
- Build and manage our online reputation — encourage and showcase family reviews and testimonials
Drive Growth & Enrollment
- Own enrollment and registration campaigns end to end — email, social, web, and events working together toward seasonal enrollment goals
- Improve search visibility through on-page SEO, keyword research, local SEO (Google Business Profile), and content
- Own the parent newsletter and email marketing — strategy, writing, design, sending, and list growth
Lead Events & School-Facing Marketing
- Own marketing for enrollment events, open houses, school fairs, and registration pushes — promotion, signage, materials, and on-site presence to capture content
- Partner with schools on co-branded and school-facing marketing that supports enrollment and strengthens partnerships
Measure & Report
- Track performance across every channel (social, email, web, events) and report to leadership on what's working, what isn't, and what you'd do next
- Define the marketing metrics that matter and use them to guide where you spend time and budget
Partner Across the Company
- Work with the Account Manager and Customer Service team on enrollment pushes and school-facing campaigns
- Partner with Business Development on new-school growth, events, and outreach
- Coordinate with People & Talent on recruiting-related marketing (instructor and staff hiring) as needed
What You'll Bring
- 4+ years in marketing, with real ownership of strategy — not just execution (the range of what you've run matters more than your title)
- A track record of building or meaningfully shaping a brand across multiple channels — social, content, email, events, and web
- Strong strategic instincts paired with a hands-on, self-directed way of working — you can set the plan and produce the work
- Excellent writing and a sharp visual sense — comfortable turning a program photo into a scroll-stopping post and a blank page into a campaign
- Hands-on skill with Canva and comfort using AI tools to work faster (Bloom AI, ChatGPT/Claude, and similar)
- Working knowledge of SEO, social platforms, and email marketing (Mailchimp, Constant Contact, or similar)
- Highly organized and reliable — you can run a content calendar, an event, and a campaign in the same week without dropping a thread
- Genuine enthusiasm for kids, education, and community
Nice to Have
- Experience marketing to parents and families, or in education, camps, or youth programs
- Basic photo/video editing
- Experience as a first or sole marketer building a function from scratch
