IDF Studio Scenery is seeking an Assistant CNC Operator to support the fabrication team in producing custom scenic elements for TV/film production, live events and experiential activations.
This role assists the CNC operator directly but will also work closely with carpenters, painters and drafters to organize and prepare materials, assist with operating CNC equipment, maintaining a clean work environment, organized finished parts, and ensure parts are accurately cut and ready for assembly.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, mechanically inclined, and comfortable working in a fast-paced fabrication environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist with setup and operation of CNC routers and related equipment
- Load, unload, and secure sheet goods and materials
- Label, organize, and track finished parts for fabrication teams
- Perform basic machine maintenance and daily cleaning
- Assist with tool changes and machine calibration
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Support fabricators with assembly, finishing, and shop tasks as needed
- Verify dimensions and material specifications before cutting
- Monitor machine operation and identify potential issues
Qualifications
Required
- Ability to lift 75+ pounds
- Basic understanding of woodworking, fabrication, or manufacturing
- Comfortable using power tools and shop equipment
- Reliable transportation and punctual attendance
Preferred
- Experience operating CNC routers
- Experience in scenic fabrication
- Understanding of CNC software
- Forklift driving
