Position Overview: Cutting Edge Steel is seeking a hardworking and safety-conscious Plant/Yard Laborer to join our growing Colorado manufacturing team. You will be the backbone of our operation, ensuring our 43,000-square-foot facility and yard remain clean, organized, and adequately stocked for production. This is a highly physical, fast-paced role that requires moving heavy materials, operating machinery, and supporting our fabrication and shipping departments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Material Handling: Load, unload, and stage steel products and raw materials using forklifts, overhead cranes, or by hand.
- Yard & Plant Organization: Keep the outdoor yard and indoor production floor organized, swept, and free of debris.
- Production Support: Assist fabricators and welders by moving cut-to-size metal parts, clearing metal shavings, and removing scrap steel.
- Inventory Assistance: Help with organizing stock, counting materials, and verifying incoming/outgoing deliveries.
- Equipment Maintenance: Perform basic maintenance on tools and assist with general facility upkeep (e.g., sweeping, painting, and cleaning).
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all OSHA and Cutting Edge Steel safety protocols, including wearing proper PPE at all times.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: 1–3 years of experience in a manufacturing, construction, or steel yard environment is strongly preferred.
- Physical Stamina: Must be able to lift and carry up to 50–75 lbs regularly, and stand, bend, or walk for long periods in all Colorado weather conditions.
- Equipment Skills: Experience operating a forklift is a major plus. Must be willing to learn to operate other heavy machinery.
- Reliability: Strong work ethic, punctuality, and a positive attitude toward manual labor.
- Driver’s License: Valid driver's license is required.
