The Material Handler is responsible for the safe, accurate, and efficient movement, storage, and distribution of materials and products throughout the facility. Supports receiving, production, shipping, inventory, and customer needs while maintaining safety, quality, and housekeeping standards.
Job Requirement
- Follow company safety, quality, hygiene, and housekeeping procedures.
- Read and interpret production schedules, work orders, requisitions, and shipping documents.
- Move, sort, store, label, and stage materials and products according to specifications.
- Supply production areas with required materials and assemble customer orders for shipment.
- Load and unload palletized and non-palletized trailers.
- Operate forklifts and other manual or powered material handling equipment safely.
- Count, weigh, and accurately record materials received, moved, and distributed.
- Enter inventory and material movement information into warehouse systems.
- Maintain organized and safe work areas and provide professional service to internal and external customers.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications
- 5–10 years of warehouse, material handling, manufacturing, distribution, or related experience preferred; high school diploma or GED.
- Forklift or powered material handling equipment experience preferred; experience with inventory control, shipping/receiving, or warehouse management systems preferred.
- Basic computer skills with the ability to accurately enter and retrieve information; ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills; ability to frequently bend, reach, push, pull, climb stairs, and move throughout a warehouse environment.
- Ability to frequently lift and carry up to 30 lbs. and occasionally up to 50 lbs.; ability to work indoors and outdoors and in varying temperatures, noise, dust, and industrial environments; must safely operate material handling equipment and maintain required PPE and safety practices.
