Working Conditions: Mental/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Communicating (verbal and written), understanding verbal instructions, reasoning skills, reading, instructing, emotional control. Frequent light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds), occasional heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds and over) and positioning students with physical disabilities, controlling behavior through appropriate restraint techniques, assisting non-ambulatory students, lifting and moving adaptive and other classroom equipment, pushing, pulling, reaching above shoulders, use of fingers, walking, standing, repeated bending, specific visual requirements (activity sufficient for reading/writing), specific hearing requirements (activity sufficient to monitor children's safety), traveling (daily, to many settings on and off campus). Inside and outside (classroom; community and recreational sites, including swimming; exposure to sun, heat, cold and inclement weather), microwaves, works with hands in water, exposure to noise, exposure to biological hazards (bacteria, communicable diseases), works with frequent interruptions, ability to maintain emotional control under stress.
