Overview
St. Pius X High School is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Maintenance Assistant to join our facilities team. The ideal candidate will perform ongoing facility maintenance and repairs as needed around campus. This role requires a commitment to provide continuous services with a flexible schedule and to ensure the safety and integrity of the buildings and its inhabitants. This position reports to the Maintenance Supervisor and is open to feedback and professional collaboration.

Responsibilities

Act as primary contact for any facilities-related and building issues.

Work independently without the need for direct supervision.

Conduct daily grounds and maintenance inspections and remove trash or debris.

Assist with minor plumbing, electrical and mechanical repairs, and contractor supervision as needed.

Help with equipment and furniture installation or dismantling and coordinating departmental or employee moves.

Set up and break down tables, chairs and other requests for school lunch, events and meetings.

Provide frequent grounds keeping and gardening by pulling weeds, trimming hedges, cleaning planter beds, etc.

Perform other duties as deemed necessary by school leadership.
Qualifications and Experience

Commitment to embrace the Catholic Mission and Dominican Charism at St. Pius X High School.

Completion of Safe Haven environment training.

High school diploma or GED.

Possess a current driver’s license.

Experience working in facilities maintenance or equivalent for at least three years.

Ability to interpret safety documents, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Proficient in Microsoft Outlook and basic mobile device applications.

Good verbal and written communication skills to follow or convey instructions.

Open to flexible scheduling and on-call duties during nonstandard hours as needs arise, especially during the summer season.

Understands the environment while performing duties such as being exposed to moving mechanical parts, outdoor weather conditions, occasional toxics or chemicals, electrical shock and high noise levels among others.

Comfortable with physical demands that require to stand, walk, use hands, reach with arms, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, work from a ladder up to 20 ft, occasional lift or move up to 50 lbs., and more.
