Job Summary
Join our dynamic team as a Motor Equipment Operator / Tree Trimmer, where you will play a vital role in maintaining and enhancing urban landscapes through skilled tree care and landscape maintenance. This energetic position involves operating specialized motor equipment, including bucket trucks and other machinery, to safely perform tree trimming, pruning, and removal. Your expertise will help ensure the safety, health, and aesthetic appeal of trees and landscaped areas while supporting community beautification projects. TYPICAL DUTIES
*1.Operates one or more types of automotive equipment such as heavy truck, snow plow, street sweeper, basin cleaner, dumpmaster, and pump truck.
*2.Operates light through intermediate weight construction and maintenance equipment such as tractor, mower, snow plow, payloader, backhoe, bulldozer, motor grader, roller, asphalt distributor, compressor, crane, line paint applicator, and remover.
*3.Services, and performs minor maintenance work on assigned equipment.
*4.Maintains operational records, and reports accidents and needed repairs.
*5. Performs a variety of manual or laboring tasks, in connection with and/or in addition to the operation of equipment.
6. Works on a sanitation truck, as required.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate motorized equipment such as bucket trucks, land clearing machinery, and other landscaping tools to perform tree trimming, pruning, and removal tasks.
- Use rigging techniques to secure limbs or trees for safe cutting and removal processes.
- Conduct routine inspections of equipment to ensure safety standards are met and perform basic maintenance as needed.
- Perform landscape maintenance tasks including lawn care, planting, mulching, and general horticultural duties to promote healthy growth.
- Execute tree care procedures such as crown thinning, cabling, bracing, and hazard assessments to maintain tree health and safety.
- Support land management initiatives by assisting with growing experience in horticulture practices and landscape design principles.
Skills
- Proven experience in tree trimming, pruning, or landscaping with a focus on tree care techniques.
- Ability to operate bucket trucks and other motorized equipment safely and efficiently.
- Knowledge of rigging procedures for lifting limbs or trees during removal or pruning operations.
- Strong understanding of horticulture principles related to landscape maintenance and plant health.
- Experience with lawn care, landscape upkeep, or gardening activities is desirable.
- Excellent safety awareness with the ability to follow all safety protocols during equipment operation and tree work.
