Job Summary
Homeward NYC is a dba (doing business as) of West End Residences HDFC, Inc., a developer and provider of housing and services for homeless families and formerly homeless youth and older adults, seeks an experienced Volunteer and Special Activities Coordinator for our Intergenerational Residence on the upper west side of Manhattan.
- The Volunteer Activity Specialist coordinator is responsible for interviewing, training and supervising all volunteers.
- Maintaining all records relating to volunteers.
- The Volunteer Activity Specialist determines needs for all volunteer services through interaction with the social service staff.
- Organizing programs and events for young mothers, their children, and the older adult populationresidents such as holiday parties and events.
- Maintaining all statistical information for all special events.
- Shopping for necessary materials and food for special events or recreational activities.
- Upkeep of the food and other panties. By ordering, stocking, and maintaining the panties.
- Keep records of consent forms for events as well as photos for any publication.
- Act as Chaperone on trips when necessary.
- Other relevant responsibilities as they are assigned by the Program Director
- Conduct Senior workshops, programs, and events of the Older Adults by coordinating with the SRO department.
- Required to work one Saturday a month
- Required to work some evening hours.
Qualifications:
- Requires minimum of an Associate’s Degree but Bachelor's is preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in recreational planning.
- Knowledge of shelter, young adults, and children.
- Knowledge of volunteer recruitment and experience in monitoring volunteer activity.
- Working knowledge of computers and ability to use software to compose notices, letters, and spreadsheets.
