Our tutors work directly with local students in one-on-one, in-person sessions. You set your availability, use your preferred teaching style, and manage how you do your work. We’ll handle the logistics and reach out with tutoring opportunities that match your preferences, and then you decide which ones you want to accept.

Location: Wake County and Durham County, North Carolina
Compensation: $20-$23/hr
Subjects Include: Middle School, Junior High, and High School English Language Arts, Spanish, French, and all STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering, and math)
Responsibilities
- Deliver one-on-one tutoring sessions in students’ homes, focusing on subjects such as reading, writing, mathematics, science, STEM, English language arts, modern languages, technology, and social studies.
- Develop customized lesson plans that align with each student’s learning style, strengths, and areas for improvement.
- Incorporate learning technology and interactive activities to enhance engagement and understanding.
- Adapt teaching strategies to accommodate diverse cultural backgrounds and individual learning needs, including special education considerations.
- Track student progress regularly and communicate effectively with parents or guardians about achievements and areas needing attention.
- Maintain a safe, positive learning environment that promotes motivation and confidence.
Requirements:
- A bachelor's degree or higher in specific subject matter, Teaching, Education, or Secondary Education
- Previous teaching or tutoring experience
- Demonstrated expertise in curriculum development and lesson planning tailored to elementary learners.
- Proven ability to teach students with diverse learning styles and learning differences, such as ADHD or dyslexia
- Proven ability to adapt instruction based on individual learning styles and needs.
- Experience teaching or tutoring core subjects such as math, science, English language arts, at the junior high or high school level.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to connect with students from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Proactive and outgoing communication style, ability to lead an engaging tutoring session with confidence and clarity
- Familiarity with learning technology tools and online instruction platforms is advantageous.
- Proactive lesson development skills with the ability to plan engaging and personalized lessons for in-home tutoring clients

· This is a project-based, flexible opportunity. Engagements are arranged based on your availability, client availability, interest, and subject matter.
· There are no minimum hours, no maximum hours.
· Due to insurance requirements, tutors must be at least 18 years old.
· Successful applicants must pass a background check.
