Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Registered Nurse (RN) with ICU specialization to join our dynamic healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive critical care experience, demonstrating proficiency in managing complex patient needs within a high-acuity environment. As an RN in the Intensive Care Unit, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care, utilizing advanced clinical skills, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal outcomes. Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients, including monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and managing ventilators and infusion therapies.
- Conduct thorough patient assessments and develop individualized care plans aligned with medical directives and best practices.
- Utilize advanced skills such as airway management, suturing, catheterization, and aseptic techniques to support patient recovery.
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate treatment plans and ensure seamless patient transitions.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Assist in diagnostic evaluations including laboratory specimen collection, imaging procedures like sonography or CT scans, and interpreting physiological data.
- Respond swiftly to emergency situations using basic life support (BLS) skills and trauma protocols within Level I or Level II trauma center settings.
- Educate patients and families on post-acute care procedures, medication administration, pain management strategies, and discharge planning.
Qualifications
- Valid RN license with current state registration; prior ICU experience is required, preferably within a Level I or Level II trauma center or acute care hospital environment.
- Demonstrated expertise in critical care procedures such as ventilator management, IV infusion therapy, dialysis support, and infection control protocols.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Cerner, or similar platforms; familiarity with ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10) is advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, and medical terminology relevant to intensive care nursing.
- Experience working with diverse patient populations including pediatrics (PICU), geriatrics (memory care), or individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Ability to perform complex physical examinations, tube feeding management, wound suturing, and sterile processing techniques as needed.
- Excellent communication skills coupled with the ability to work efficiently under pressure in fast-paced environments such as emergency rooms or trauma units. Pay: $39.00 - $64.25 per hour
