This Environmental Project Specialist role involves being responsible for supporting Project Managers on project tasks and assignments to meet project profitability goals and deliver best-in-class services to our clients.
Job Type: Part-Time/Temporary ( This position is considered temporary and as such there are no associated benefits, but you are eligible for paid time off in accordance with our sick time policy )
Pay: $30-$40/hr (based on training, duties, and project type)
Schedule: This is an as-needed position with a flexible schedule and based on demand with no guaranteed minimum.
This role will be responsible for a full range of activities including:
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to support Project Managers with projects at various stages of project planning, environmental compliance, permitting, and documentation.
- Review project materials, provide analysis, develop spreadsheets, data entry, maintain project tracking, and manage database entries and quality assurance tasks.
- Cost estimating work – review project scope of work and prepare draft cost estimates
- Support project managers to oversee project compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Assist in improving program efficiencies and support schedule management
- Provide peer trainings as needed
- Duties may include conducting environmental desktop analysis of sensitive resources, environmental construction monitoring support, writing and reviewing reports, and interacting with other company professionals and client contacts.
- Maintains confidentiality at all times.
- Exercises safe work practices by following all Company safety rules and OSHA regulations, including attendance at all required safety training programs.
- Keeps up-to-date and current on industry trends by completing formal training, reviewing professional publications, and attending professional workshops.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Your Expertise and Skills

- BS or MS in planning, environmental science, biology, ecology, or similar field
- 1 to 3 years of professional experience as an environmental scientist/specialist, biologist, ecologist, planner, or equivalent in California with experience pertaining to environmental compliance
- Knowledge of current environmental regulations, including CESA, FESA, CEQA, and NEPA, amongst others
- Exposure to project management tasks
- Ability to work under pressure with multiple deadlines
- Proven leadership skills; identify problems and actively devise appropriate solutions
- Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills.
- Outgoing/team player with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
- Strong organizational and management skills.
- Ability to communicate in a group-oriented setting to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and leaders
- Knowledge of computer-aided software (Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, ArcGIS, etc.)
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions to present to supervisors.
