5B is a 22-bed medical/surgical unit specializing in women’s care, oncology, gynecology, and palliative/hospice care. The unit also cares for patients receiving chemotherapy. In addition, 5B provides post-operative care for plastic surgery and general surgery patients.
The Registered Nurse provides compassionate, evidence-based nursing care through assessment, treatment, care coordination, patient and family education, and individualized care planning while supporting admissions, transfers, and discharges.

- As a clinical nurse, this individual spends majority of his/her time (> 50%) coordinating, ensuring and providing direct patient care activities on the unit through: provision of nursing rounds, assessments and treatments; facilitating admission, transfer and discharge activities; provision of patient and family-centered education; care coordination and individualized treatment planning as applicable, etc.
