Colorlab is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Junior Film Prep Technician to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for motion picture film, including Super 8, 16mm, and 35mm film handling and preservation involving both archival film and new negative preparation, to learn the fundamentals of film handling, inspection, and preparation in a professional archival environment.
Responsibilities
We are currently seeking a Junior Film Prep Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for film, an eye for detail, and a desire to learn the technical skills required to prepare film materials for scanning, restoration, and archiving.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspecting and cleaning film materials to ensure they are free from dust, dirt, and other contaminants.
- Repairing any damages to film such as tears or missing frames, using specialized film repair equipment.
- Preparing film reels for printing or scanning by ensuring they are properly wound and free of defects.
- Working closely with the restoration team to ensure film materials are prepared to the highest standard.
- Logging and cataloging film materials accurately to maintain an organized database.
- Ensuring the safe handling and storage of film materials to prevent any damage or deterioration.
- Assisting with other duties in the lab as required, including equipment maintenance and inventory management.
- Adhering to all safety and procedural guidelines to maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
Qualifications:
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
