Hackensack Meridian Fitness and Wellness is currently seeking an experienced, energetic individual with a passion for group fitness as the Group Fitness Manager for our new center! The Group Fitness Manager’s primary responsibility is running a dynamic group exercise program through the on going creation and/or development of staff and programs. This is done through the development and supervision of all group fitness programs, weekly schedule and events. In this role, the manager oversees the department as well as teaches classes throughout the schedule. When providing instruction, the individual is expected to provide an encouraging voice and enthusiastic personality when leading exercise activities. All candidates should be friendly, dependable individuals with a positive attitude and a personal commitment to individual health and fitness.
Responsibilities:
· Recruit, review and mentor group exercise instructors to compose a weekly class schedule
· Compose a weekly class schedule with multiple formats that supports the usage and requests of the membership
· Stay up to date on fitness trends and new group fitness class formats
· Coordinate with other department managers and instructors to host events such as Les Mills Launches and fitness fairs
· Reliability to teach scheduled classes, beginning and ending on time.
· Educate class participants on correct form and alternate moves during the fitness routine.
· Offer alternative exercises and routines to accommodate different levels of fitness.
· Teach proper breathing techniques used during physical exertion.
· Explain and enforce safety rules and regulations governing sports, recreational activities, and the use of exercise equipment.
· Report any unsafe conditions or situations that require attention to the General Manager.
· Other duties not listed here may be assigned as necessary to ensure the proper operations of the department.
Skills and Qualifications:
· Design and manage weekly group exercise schedules.
· Excellent communication and customer service skills.
· Hire and coordinate with instructors for the schedule, sub lists and special events.
· Work with the management team and members to promote and encourage group fitness participation.
· Enthusiastic, passionate and knowledgeable regarding the fitness industry.
· Responsible for knowing when and how to renew any licenses, registrations, or required certifications, and doing so in a timely manner.
· Certified Pilates Reformer is a plus.
· The Group Exercise Manager is required to obtain and continuously renew CPR certification as well as AED certification. The must also hold and maintain a general Group Fitness certification such as AFAA.
Salary Range: $50k-$55k depending upon experience and classes being taught
