We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Science Teacher to join our educational team at Prospect Heights Middle. The ideal candidate will inspire students to explore the wonders of science while fostering a collaborative and engaging learning environment. Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that align with state standards and promote student engagement.
- Teach a variety of science subjects, including but not limited to biology, chemistry, physics, and earth science.
- Utilize diverse instructional strategies to accommodate different learning styles and promote critical thinking skills.
- Assess student progress through regular evaluations, assignments, and standardized tests, providing constructive feedback to support growth.
- Create a positive classroom environment that encourages student participation, inquiry, and respect for diverse perspectives.
- Collaborate with fellow educators, staff, and parents to support student learning and address individual needs.
- Participate in ongoing professional development to remain current with educational best practices and advancements in science.
- Organize and oversee science-related extracurricular activities, such as science fairs, clubs, or competitions.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and other required documentation.
- Ensure a safe and orderly classroom environment conducive to learning.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Science Education or a related field
- Valid state teaching certification in Science for middle school level or willing to obtain.
- Proven experience teaching science in a middle school setting is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of science curricula and instructional strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Ability to differentiate instruction and accommodate diverse learning needs.
- Proficient in the use of technology for teaching and classroom management.
