Duties
- Prepare and submit accurate medical claims using billing software, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and payer requirements.
- Review medical records and documentation to verify proper coding, including DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group), CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, and ICD-10 codes.
- Manage accounts receivable by following up on unpaid or denied claims through medical collection efforts.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure all documentation supports billing accuracy and completeness.
- Maintain detailed records of billing activities within EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems.
- Reconcile billing discrepancies and resolve patient or insurance inquiries promptly with excellent customer service skills.
- Stay current on healthcare claims management policies, health insurance procedures, and coding updates to ensure compliance.
Skills
- Proficiency in medical billing software and Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with EMR/EHR systems used in healthcare facilities for accurate recordkeeping.
