Responsibilities
- Assist patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Monitor patient health by observing vital signs and reporting changes promptly to healthcare professionals
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA standards to protect patient confidentiality
- Support patients with meal preparation, light housekeeping, laundry, and cleaning to promote a safe and comfortable environment
- Use patient transfer methods safely, including Hoyer lifts and other assistive devices, to prevent injury during mobility assistance
- Provide companionship and emotional support, especially for patients with dementia or experiencing end-of-life care needs
Experience
- Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home healthcare settings is required.
- Demonstrated ability to work with geriatric patients or individuals with developmental disabilities and dementia care needs
- Knowledge of medical terminology, medication administration procedures, and home health care regulations
- Familiarity with patient transfer methods such as Hoyer lifts and safe lifting techniques for heavy lifting tasks
- Certification in First Aid and Basic Life Support (BLS), including CPR training is preferred but not required; willingness to obtain certification is valued
- Experience working independently in live-in employment settings or providing long-term care demonstrates reliability and dedication
