The Project Accountant is responsible for managing full-cycle accounting functions while supporting projects. This role oversees accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, maintains accurate general ledger records, performs account reconciliations, and assists with month-end and year-end close activities. The position requires strong proficiency in QuickBooks Desktop and a solid understanding of accounting principles, including accruals, fixed assets, prepaid expenses, and intercompany transactions.
Duties
- Full-Cycle Accounting Ownership: Perform and understand end-to-end accounting processes including journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, month-end close activities, fixed assets, prepaid expenses, and general ledger maintenance.
- QuickBooks Desktop Expertise: Maintain working knowledge of QuickBooks Desktop including account setup, reporting, customer/vendor management, and troubleshooting accounting discrepancies.
- Accounts Payable Management: Oversee AP processes including vendor setup, invoice coding, approvals, payment processing, vendor reconciliations, and follow-up on discrepancies.
- Accounts Receivable Management: Manage customer invoicing, collections follow-up, aging review, cash applications, payment disputes, and customer account reconciliations.
- Inventory & Manufacturing Accounting: Support manufacturing and inventory processes including raw materials, work-in-process (WIP), finished goods tracking, inventory reconciliations, lot tracking, and cost analysis.
- lntercompany Accounting: Record and reconcile intercompany transactions, loans, transfers, and balances.
- Month-End Close Support: Assist with monthly and year-end close activities including reconciliations and reporting.
- Payroll experience in Paylocity
- Self-Starter Ownership: Independently identify issues, communicate concerns proactively, and escalate exceptions requiring management approval.
Skills / Qualifications
- Experience in Construction
- Payroll experience a plus - Paylocity
- Minimum 3+ years' experience with full-cycle accounting
- Strong experience with QuickBooks Desktop required
- Experience with Paradigm ERP a plus
- Strong understanding of AP, AR, Debits & Credits, General Ledger, reconciliations, and month-end close
Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
