Position Summary
The Shop Foreman is a hands on working position and is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the shop, ensuring efficient workflow, quality repairs, and timely completion of all technical work. This role supervises technicians, assigns tasks based on priorities, and supports all repair and rebuild activities as needed. The Shop Foreman plays a key role in maintaining productivity, quality standards, and a safe, organized work environment.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Shop Operations
- Oversee daily shop operations and ensure work is completed efficiently and on schedule
- Supervise and manage technicians in the back shop
- Assign tasks to technicians based on workload, priorities, and skill level
- Monitor progress and ensure timely completion of repairs and rebuilds
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment
Technician Oversight & Support
- Provide guidance, training, and support to technicians
- Step in and perform technician duties as needed to meet operational demands
- Ensure adherence to quality standards and proper repair procedures
- Evaluate technician performance and provide feedback
Inspection, Repair & Rebuild Oversight
- Oversee inspection, disassembly, cleaning, repair, and reassembly of parts
- Ensure proper diagnosis of issues and identification of required parts
- Verify that rebuilt components meet quality and functionality standards
- Support troubleshooting and problem-solving for complex repairs
Parts & Inventory Management
- Manage and coordinate parts ordering based on repair needs
- Ensure availability of required components to avoid delays
- Track parts usage and maintain accurate records
- Coordinate with purchasing or suppliers as needed
Hiring & Staffing Support
- Participate in vetting and evaluating new technician candidates
- Support hiring decisions based on technical skills and shop needs
- Assist in onboarding and training of new hires
Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve shop efficiency, workflow, and turnaround time
- Implement best practices to enhance productivity and quality
- Support continuous improvement initiatives in repair and rebuild processes
Qualifications
- Strong mechanical skills and hands-on experience in repair and rebuild environments
- Previous experience in a lead technician or supervisory role a must
- Ability to manage and direct a team effectively
- Experience with parts ordering and inventory coordination
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, hands-on shop environment
Pay: $28.00 - $35.00 per hour
