Target Bonus: 17.5% (up to 150% upside based on performance)

Overview
A high-performing acute care hospital in Northern Virginia is seeking an experienced Director of Surgical Services to lead a large, complex perioperative service line.
This executive-level role provides strategic, operational, and clinical leadership across multiple surgical platforms, including inpatient and outpatient surgery, endoscopy, robotics, and cardiovascular services. The Director partners closely with executive leadership and physicians to drive growth, quality, physician alignment, and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
Provide strategic leadership for all perioperative services, including operating rooms, endoscopy, and specialty surgical programs
Set and execute a long-term vision for surgical services growth, innovation, and market differentiation
Maintain strong collaborative relationships with surgeons, anesthesiology, nursing leadership, and executive teams
Oversee daily operations, staffing models, throughput, and surgical scheduling optimization
Lead evidence-based practice initiatives to ensure high-quality, safe, and compliant patient care
Ensure compliance with all regulatory, accreditation, and patient safety standards
Direct performance improvement initiatives focused on quality outcomes, patient experience, and efficiency
Manage departmental budgets, capital planning, and resource utilization
Develop, mentor, and retain perioperative leadership talent; support succession planning and career development
Utilize data and metrics to drive decision-making, accountability, and service line performance
Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
Minimum 3+ years of surgical services experience
Minimum 3+ years in a leadership role within perioperative services
Preferred:
Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related field
CNOR (Certified Nurse Operating Room)
CSSM (Certified Surgical Services Manager)
