Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and highly organized Trucking Dispatcher to join our logistics team. In this vital role, you will coordinate and manage the daily dispatching of freight and vehicles, ensuring seamless road transportation operations. Your proactive communication skills and attention to detail will drive efficiency, optimize routes, and uphold compliance with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate the scheduling and dispatching of trucks, drivers, and loads to meet delivery deadlines efficiently.
- Communicate effectively with drivers, carriers, customers, and internal teams via multi-line phone systems and internal communication platforms to relay instructions, updates, and resolve issues promptly.
- Monitor GPS and GIS (Geographic Information Systems) data to ensure accurate routing, real-time tracking, and compliance with safety standards.
- Manage shipping & receiving documentation, data entry tasks, and freight tracking logs with precision.
- Ensure adherence to DOT regulations by maintaining accurate records of hours of service, vehicle inspections, and safety compliance.
- Handle phone call management with professionalism using phone etiquette skills while providing excellent customer service during inquiries or issue resolution.
- Support supply chain operations by coordinating with third-party logistics providers (3PL), managing freight schedules, and assisting in transportation planning efforts.
- Maintain organized records of internal communication, dispatch logs, incident reports, and shipment documentation for audit readiness.
Experience
- Proven experience in road transportation operations or logistics coordination within a fast-paced environment.
- Strong knowledge of GIS, GPS technology, DOT regulations, and fleet management practices.
- Experience with shipping & receiving procedures along with freight tracking processes.
- Excellent organizational skills coupled with analysis skills for route optimization and problem-solving.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and typing skills for data entry tasks.
- Ability to manage multi-line phone systems efficiently while demonstrating strong communication skills and phone etiquette.
