Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kennel Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and welfare, providing a safe and nurturing environment for pets in our facility. As a Kennel Assistant, you will play a vital role in the daily operations of our kennel, ensuring that all animals receive the highest level of care and attention. Must be 18 years of age with a High School diploma or GED. Must also have reliable transportation (must own a vehicle).
Duties
- Provide daily care for animals, including feeding, watering, and exercising dogs and other pets.
- Maintain cleanliness of kennels and common areas by performing regular cleaning tasks.
- Monitor the health and behavior of animals, reporting any concerns to staff or management.
- Assist with animal restraint during grooming or veterinary procedures as needed.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with pet owners regarding their pets' needs and well-being.
- Handle animals safely and compassionately, ensuring their comfort during their stay.
- Assist in administering medications as directed by veterinary staff.
- Participate in training programs to enhance skills in animal handling and care.
Requirements
- Previous experience in animal handling or pet care is preferred but not required.
- Strong customer service skills to effectively interact with pet owners and team members.
- Knowledge of basic veterinary care or willingness to learn about animal health is a plus.
- Ability to handle dogs of various sizes and temperaments safely.
- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting and engage in activities such as walking dogs for extended periods.
- Experience with pet grooming or bathing is beneficial but not mandatory.
- Familiarity with kennel operations or pet sitting services is an advantage.
- A genuine love for animals and commitment to their well-being is essential.
