Overview
Field Technician is responsible for executing installation and basic troubleshooting activities in data center environments with limited supervision. This role represents a fully operational technician capable of delivering consistent results while supporting team efficiency and quality standards.
The technician is expected to take ownership of complex tasks, provide technical guidance to team members, and act as a key point of contact between field operations and engineering teams.
Responsibilities
- Execute physical installations according to company and client standards
- Perform advanced troubleshooting on fiber and network systems
- Lead and coordinate small field teams during project execution
- Act as primary technical reference on-site for assigned tasks
- Perform fiber optic testing (OTDR, power meter) and diagnostics
- Ensure full compliance with quality standards and validate final delivery before client handoff
- Support and mentor Helpers, Installers, and Field Technicians I & II
- Interface with project management and engineering teams when required
- Maintain organized work environments and proper documentation
- Follow all safety, quality, and operational procedures
- Identify potential issues proactively and implement corrective actions
- Participate in ongoing technical training and certifications
