Job Overview
This position reports to the President/CEO. This role will assist with receiving, sorting, and proofing accounting documents, and posting to the accounting system. Process and post all incoming and outgoing wire transfers, handle member requests, prepare daily deposits and reconciliations. This position requires good organizational skills and a thorough knowledge of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles and the ability to apply them. A high degree of timeliness, efficiency, and accuracy are required to successfully execute this position.
Skills and Experience
- Education – Associate degree or 60 college credits
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in accounting.
- Understanding of General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Familiarity with related auditing and data processing functions.
- Knowledge of Credit Union environment, operations and information flow.
- Knowledge of related computer applications (Excel, Word, Accounting Software)
- Well organized, accurate and attentive to details.
- Previous credit union or financial institution experience preferred
- Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal abilities
- Must have good communication and interpersonal skills
Role Description and Essential Duties
- Work with third party accounting companies and department managers in handling issues surrounding accounting, budgeting, analyses, and reporting.
- Accounts payable
- Maintain daily contact with Operation Managers and Branch Manager providing support to their daily operations
- Prepare and complete assigned monthly board reports
- Posts and approve incoming and outgoing wire transfers
- Ensuring procedures are in accordance with changing regulations, legal requirements, and industry trends. Coordinate investment reporting and ALM reporting utilizing related software systems.
- Assists the President in ensuring that proper accounting controls are in place
- Prepare and complete all daily, monthly, quarterly and annual entries/posting. Ensure that records, statements, and reports are in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and government regulations reports are accurate and completed timely.
- Complete weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual audits
- Keep related software systems current, efficient, and functional.
- Maintain and manage vendor relationships and software
- Respond to accounting questions and information needs. Any transactions which are outside the established policies are reported to the CEO and Operation Manager.
- Stay informed of trends and changes in the accounting field. Ensure the department work area is clean, secure, and well maintained. Ensure that appropriate levels of confidentiality and security are maintained.
- Completes special projects and miscellaneous assignments as required by the CEO and Operation Manager
- Process and submit CTR and SAR
- Attend required training and demonstrate a willingness to keep learning.
- Comply with all Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) rules and regulations, in addition to Customer Identification Program (CIP). Complete all required annual BSA training and required compliance training
