Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Safety Manager to lead and support all environmental, health, and safety (EHS) initiatives at our manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining programs that promote a safe and healthy work environment while ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader who can proactively identify risks, investigate incidents, drive continuous improvement, and foster a strong safety culture throughout the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive safety programs, policies, and procedures.
- Conduct workplace inspections and audits to ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements.
- Identify workplace hazards and recommend corrective actions to eliminate or reduce risk.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and implement preventative measures.
- Lead facility-wide EHS risk assessments and safety improvement initiatives.
- Stop or suspend activities that pose an immediate threat to employee safety.
- Analyze safety data and trends to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Coordinate Hazard Communication ("Right-to-Know") programs and ensure proper handling of hazardous materials.
- Conduct safety training programs, new hire orientations, and ongoing employee education.
- Maintain emergency response plans, procedures, and preparedness programs.
- Ensure adequate availability and inspection of safety equipment, fire prevention equipment, and first aid supplies.
- Manage hazardous waste and chemical inventories while maintaining regulatory compliance.
- Support employee health monitoring and occupational health initiatives.
- Partner with leadership and employees to strengthen safety awareness and accountability across the facility.
- Maintain accurate safety records, reports, and regulatory documentation.
Qualifications Required
- Bachelor's degree in Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience considered.
- Minimum of 5 years of safety experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety standards, and best practices.
- Experience conducting incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action planning.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and make sound business decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred
- Professional certifications such as CSP, ASP, OHST, or CHMM.
- Experience managing environmental compliance programs.
- Experience in heavy manufacturing, paper, wood products, industrial, or process manufacturing environments.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong understanding of workplace safety, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
- Knowledge of training development, adult learning principles, and safety education programs.
- Ability to influence and engage employees at all levels of the organization.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety management systems.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.

Pay: $90,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
