Position Summary
C-AT is seeking a practical, detail-oriented, hands-on Inventory, Parts, and Shipping Specialist to support our operations team.
This position is responsible for helping keep inventory organized, accurate, and available for production. The role includes inventory control, parts organization, kitting, shipping, receiving, and production support.
The right person will be comfortable working in a small business environment where accuracy, communication, follow-through, and willingness to pitch in are important.
Key Responsibilities:
Inventory Control
- Track, organize, and maintain inventory items.
- Keep stockroom areas clean, labeled, orderly, and easy to navigate.
- Verify physical inventory against system records.
- Help identify missing, misplaced, obsolete, or duplicate parts.
- Conduct cycle counts and assist with inventory audits.
- Report inventory discrepancies to management.
- Help establish and maintain bin locations, part labels, and storage organization.
- Monitor critical parts and communicate shortages before they delay production.
Parts and Production Support
- Pull parts needed for production.
- Assemble kits based on Bills of Materials.
- Verify part numbers, quantities, condition, and drawings before releasing kits to assembly.
- Label kits clearly with the appropriate sales order or production information.
- Communicate missing, unclear, or questionable parts before making assumptions.
- Support assemblers by making sure parts and materials are ready when needed.
- Help keep production moving by identifying blockers and communicating them promptly.
Shipping and Receiving
- Receive incoming shipments and compare items against purchase orders and packing slips.
- Inspect incoming materials for damage, shortages, incorrect parts, or quantity discrepancies.
- Document receiving issues and notify the appropriate person.
- Store received items in the correct inventory location.
- Prepare outgoing shipments accurately and securely.
- Package products and parts to prevent damage during transit.
- Assist with shipping labels, packing lists, tracking information, and related documentation.
- Support both domestic and international shipping requirements as needed.
Required Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship required due to customer and contract requirements.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Comfortable working onsite in Reston, Virginia.
- Comfortable with physical work, including standing, walking, using stairs, organizing shelves, receiving shipments, and occasional lifting up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Basic computer skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to follow procedures and ask questions when something is unclear.
- Clear communication and good judgment.
- Prior experience in inventory, shipping, receiving, warehouse, stockroom, parts, logistics, production support, or a similar hands-on role preferred.
Preferred Experience
- Inventory control or stockroom experience.
- Shipping and receiving experience.
- Experience with purchase orders, packing slips, Bills of Materials, or part numbers.
- Kitting or production support experience.
- Experience with FedEx, UPS, USPS, ShipStation, or similar shipping tools.
- Experience with inventory or business systems such as SOS, Odoo, QuickBooks, ERP, WMS, or similar software.
- Experience in a small business, manufacturing, technical equipment, public safety, defense, government contracting, warehouse, military logistics, or parts environment.

Work Environment
