Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Social Worker to join our school in Michigan. As a Social Worker, you will play a crucial role in supporting the social and emotional well-being of our students, promoting positive relationships, and ensuring a safe and inclusive learning environment. Your responsibilities will include providing individual and group counseling, conducting Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs), collaborating with teachers and parents, and implementing interventions to address various social, emotional, and behavioral issues that impact students' academic success.
Responsibilities:
Individual and Group Counseling: Conduct assessments and provide counseling services to students facing social, emotional, or behavioral challenges. Develop personalized intervention plans and facilitate counseling sessions to address identified needs and promote healthy coping strategies.
Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs): Serve as the lead practitioner for conducting FBAs across the school, including data collection through direct observation, staff and parent interviews, and review of student records. Analyze antecedents, behaviors, and consequences to identify the function of target behaviors, and develop, implement, monitor, and revise Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) in collaboration with teachers, administrators, and the special education team. Train and coach staff on the consistent implementation of BIPs and fidelity monitoring.
Crisis Intervention: Be prepared to respond to crisis situations and provide immediate support and intervention as necessary. Collaborate with appropriate stakeholders to ensure the safety and well-being of students in emergency situations.
Collaboration and Consultation: Work closely with teachers, parents, and other school personnel to develop strategies and interventions that support students' social and emotional development. Provide consultation on student-related issues, including behavior management, conflict resolution, and referral to external resources when needed.
Individualized Education Programs (IEPs): Participate in IEP meetings, contributing expertise on social, emotional, and behavioral factors that impact students' learning and development. Present FBA findings and BIP recommendations at IEP and MDR meetings as needed. Collaborate with the IEP team to ensure appropriate accommodations and support services are provided to students with special needs.
Advocacy and Community Engagement: Advocate for students' rights and well-being by liaising with community agencies, social services, and other relevant organizations. Identify and refer students and families to external resources, programs, and services that can provide additional support.
Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and confidential records of student assessments, counseling sessions, FBAs, BIPs, interventions, and referrals. Prepare reports and documentation as required by school policies and state and federal regulations.
Additional Duties:
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Social Work.
- Valid state license/certification as a Social Worker (LMSW or LCSW) in Michigan or eligibility to obtain licensure.
- Previous experience working as a social worker in an educational setting is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated training and experience conducting Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and developing Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) in a school setting.
- Working knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS).
- Knowledge of child development, mental health issues, and evidence-based counseling techniques.
- Familiarity with federal and state laws and regulations related to special education and student rights, including IDEA requirements for FBAs, BIPs, and Manifestation Determination Reviews.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Ability to work independently, demonstrate empathy, and maintain professional boundaries.
- Flexibility to adapt to the unique needs of diverse student populations and changing circumstances.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $52,500.00 - $65,000.00 per year
